Captioned performances
Subtitles in English and Icelandic are offered for the 7th performance of selected productions (see below). Captions are displayed on screens placed to the side of the stage or above it, as appropriate at any given time. The ticket office provides information on the most suitable seats for those who want to use subtitling. Subtitled performances are suitable for people who don’t speak Icelandic or are learning the language, as well as those who are hard of hearing.
Large screens are placed in the stands on the sides of the stage or above the stage. The text is in both Icelandic and English.
7. sýning textuð á ensku og íslensku
Þjóðleikhúsið leggur aukna áherslu á að mæta ólíkum þörfum leikhúsgesta. Þriðja leikárið í röð verður boðið upp á textun á ensku og íslensku á 7. sýningu valinna verka. Textar birtast á skjám sem komið er fyrir til hliðar við sviðið eða fyrir ofan það, eftir því sem við á hverju sinni. Miðasala veitir upplýsingar um hentugustu sætin hverju sinni fyrir þá sem vilja nýta sér textun. Textaðar sýningar henta vel þeim sem ekki tala íslensku eða eru að læra hana, eða búa við heyrnarskerðingu.
Stórum skjám er komið fyrir í stúkunum til hiðar við sviðið eða ofan við það. Þar birtist textinn bæði á íslensku og ensku.

The „Leikhúskort“ discount card gives you a 30% discount on three or more shows and various benefits:
- You choose your seat for the shows you want to see the most. (Please remember to select the subtitled performances.)
- Reminder via SMS a few days before the performances.
- You can change the show dates through the web with 48 hours notice or at the box office.
- Theatre gift cards, “Gjafakort”, at special prices.
- Discounts on books in our theater bookstore.

Íbúð 10B (Apartment 10B)

A provocative and hilarious new play, wonderfully well-written and tense, straight from contemporary Iceland.
One of the owners of an elegant apartment building in Reykjavík has decided to convert her luxury flat into a guesthouse of sorts for twenty Arabic asylum seekers. Other residents in the building are very much in favour of diversity but do not accept that the rules of the housing association are trampled underfoot. Marta and Heiðar invite their like-minded neighbours to their home to discuss the matter over good cheese and wine. Beneath the polite surface, the laws of the jungle soon begin to rear their head, and a pleasant evening turns into a fierce confrontation.
Director Baltasar Kormákur and writer Ólafur Jóhann Ólafsson recently worked together on the magnificent film Touch (Snerting). Their work has respectively captivated readers and audiences around the world, sweeping up awards.

Ormstunga is a brand-new and fresh Icelandic musical based on the Icelandic saga Gunnlaugs saga Ormstunga, a classic story that is at once exciting, funny, and heartbreaking. The authors belong to the youngest generation of Icelandic theatre artists and work with our cultural heritage in a modern and fascinating form. Numerous actors from the National Theatre of Iceland perform in this powerful production, which many of our most talented theatre artists help bring to life. Ormstunga is a musical for young and old, with captivating and varied music. The energy and freshness of the musical form meet the conflict-ridden world of the Icelandic sagas.
Gunnlaugur, Hrafn and Helga form one of the most famous love triangles in ancient Icelandic literature. For too long, fate has plagued them, but now, in front of an audience, they finally get to settle their affairs. Renowned for his electrifying performances, director Gísli Örn leads this exceptional ensemble, delivering a theatre experience unlike any other.

The artists Davíð Þór, Jónmundur and Unnsteinn have in common that they are distinctly Icelandic but can trace their origins to two continents. In a sincere and candid exploration of the self, they stage hilarious and grave incidents from their own lives that expose society in an innovative way.
